MISSION Ashley Gardens Foundation for Education is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting educational support and opportunity for Skagit Valley high school seniors who have an interest in pursuing a career in healthcare. The Foundation promotes and recognizes the need for high standards of educational excellence at the college level. Financial assistance is necessary from many students who pursue a post-secondary education and the Foundation desires to support those whose goal it is to become a healthcare professional. ORGANIZATION The Foundation is established and organized by the ownership of Ashley Gardens, Skagit County educational and business leaders and employees of Ashley Gardens. The Foundation exists primarily to provide scholarship opportunities for Skagit Valley residents and/or Ashley Gardens employees who have completed high school or are completing their Senior year of high school. It is exempt from federal income tax under Section 501 (3) C of the Internal Revenue Code. The affairs of the Foundation are governed by its Board of Directors, who are to be named pursuant to the bylaws of the Foundation. It is the responsibility of the Board of Directors to select suitable recipients of the scholarship funds, based on criteria established by the Board. GOALS AND OBJECTIVES The Foundation's primary goal is to award scholarships to deserving students who are pursuing a college education in the healthcare field, with particular emphasis and consideration for those pursuing educational advancement in long-term care and Alzheimer's Disease/Dementia care. Scholarship funds are only available to Skagit Valley high school seniors or employees of Ashley Gardens who are currently employed at Ashley Gardens. CRITERIA The Ashley Gardens Foundation for Education endeavors to demonstrate its commitment to the perpetuation of quality healthcare professionals by awarding scholarships to current Skagit Valley high school seniors and/or Ashley Garden's employees in good standing. Employees who are presently enrolled, or who have applied or intend to apply for enrollment in courses of study related to healthcare with special emphasis on long-term care and Alzheimer's Disease/Dementia Care in particular, will be considered. Distribution of the scholarships is left to the discretion of the Selection Committee based upon the following criteria:

3807 East College Way Mount Vernon, WA 98273 All applications and supporting documentation will be reviewed by the Selection Committee who will determine the scholarship recipients. The Selection Committee is comprised of four members of the Board of Directors. The Board of Directors may appoint additional members to the Selection Committee as necessary. The Foundation will provide information and application forms to each high school in Skagit county and to every employee of Ashley Gardens. Selections will be made by May 1 each year or at a later time as appropriate during the first year. FINANCIAL SUPPORT The Foundation receives its support from Ashley Gardens LLC, individual healthcare professionals, families of Ashley Gardens residents, memorial contributions in the name of a deceased resident of Ashley Gardens and vendors supplying products of services to Ashley Gardens. Tax-deductible contributions to the Foundation may be made in several ways including endowments, trusts and bequests and through special fundraising events sponsored by the Foundation.
